Denver Firm Buying J. H. Biggar Furniture Chain: Furniture retailer Homestead House declined to disclose the terms of the agreement under which it is buying J. H. Biggar Co., a 65-year-old family-owned furniture chain based in Pasadena. Homestead House, which has five upscale furniture stores in Southern California, plans to open three more in the next several years. Biggar has six stores in the area. Jay Smith, Homestead House advertising director, said the Biggar stores eventually will take the Homestead House name.
