PREP TENNIS / CITY CHAMPIONSHIPS : No. 3 Doubles Leads Chatsworth Victory

The No. 3 doubles team of Thad Montalban and Brian Bettinger led Chatsworth to its first City Section 4-A Division boys’ tennis championship Friday at the Racquet Centre in Studio City.
Chatsworth put away the 17-12 1/2 victory over Taft when Montalban and Bettinger beat the No. 2 doubles team of Eric Ficksman and Robbie Polak, 6-2. Ficksman and Polak have reached the semifinals of the City individual tournament.
The victory broke a 9-9 tie for Chatsworth (18-0), which gained 11 of its points from singles players Rafael Huerta, Rudy Vargas, and Ron Charles.
Ficksman and Polak were coming off a 7-6 (11-9) victory over Mike Carone and Amir Fahimi that lasted nearly 1 1/2 hours.
