Pomona : Illegal Fireworks Seized
Pomona Fire Department investigators seized a truckload of illegal fireworks with an estimated street value of $50,000 to $75,000 from a house in Valinda.
Investigator Jim DeSouza said the seizure last week was part of an investigation that began when students at a Pomona junior high school brought fireworks to school. The fireworks were traced to the father of one of the students, and further investigation led to distributors in Orange County and then Valinda.
Fire Capt. Dane Prall said there were enough fireworks found in a bedroom of the Valinda home to “level a house and be a real hazard to anyone nearby.”
The cache included skyrockets and other exploding devices that are illegal in California. All fireworks are unlawful in the city of Pomona.
