Anchors Sign On: Carlos Amezcua and Barbara Beck will anchor “The KTLA Morning News,” which is scheduled to debut at 7 a.m. on July 8, the station announced Monday. The two-hour weekday newscast, the first of its kind in this market, is designed to compete directly with the network morning news shows by emphasizing local news, traffic, weather and interviews. Amezcua has worked as a morning news anchor at the NBC-owned station in Denver for the last three years, while for the last two years Beck has anchored a morning newscast in Miami. Los Angeles natives Eric Spillman and Michele Ruiz have been hired as field reporters for the broadcast.
