Car Hits Tree in Lancaster; Driver Killed

A motorist was killed early Monday when his car struck a tree in Lancaster, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
The name of the driver was not released because relatives had not been notified.
The accident occurred about 5:15 a.m. as the driver was traveling east on Avenue K at 7th Street East, Lt. Frank Sebek said.
The car “for unknown reasons veered off the road to the right and struck a large tree, killing the driver instantly,” Sebek said.
The cause of the accident was under investigation.
