BUENA PARK : New Fire Chief From Norco Hired

Norco Fire Chief Herb Jewell will replace Sam J. Winner as the head of the city’s Fire Department, officials recently announced.
Jewell, 38, will take over on July 22 for Winner, who retired in March.
Jewell comes to Buena Park with 17 years experience as a firefighter and chief. Before being named Norco’s fire chief five years ago, he served as a fire marshal for the city of Laguna Beach and a fire captain in Victorville.
Jewell has won several awards, including the Orange County Fire Service Overachiever Award and Norco Fire Employee of the Year. He holds a master’s degree in public administration from Cal State Long Beach.
