California IN BRIEF : SAN FRANCISCO : Policeman Shoots Partner by Mistake

A policeman was shot in the chest by a fellow officer who fired his gun by accident as the two conducted a search in a hotel, police reported. Officer Terry A. Gregory, 45, was in good condition at San Francisco General Hospital. Police went to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel after receiving a report that a man had pulled a gun on a maid. Gregory and his partner did not find the gunman.
