Gianfranco Rosi of Italy survived a third-round knockdown and retained his International Boxing Federation junior-middleweight title with a unanimous decision over Glenn Wolfe of Miami at Avezzano, Italy.
Wolfe was close to an upset in the third round when his left hook landed on Rosi’s chin and sent him to the canvas.
Wolfe’s left again put Rosi in serious danger in the fifth round, but again the champion held on.
Despite those two rounds, Rosi, at 34 one of the oldest reigning world champions, had a clear-cut edge on the cards of all three judges.
