Laura Goewert; Councilman’s Mother-In-Law

Laura Goewert, mother-in-law of Los Angeles Councilman Hal Bernson, has died at a Woodland Hills hospital. She was 79.
Mrs. Goewert died Monday of cancer, said a family friend, Paul Clarke.
Born in St. Louis, Mo., she married Arthur Goewert in 1936. Three years after her husband died in 1964, Mrs. Goewert moved to California to live with her daughter, Sandra, who is married to the councilman, in their Granada Hills home.
In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Goewert is survived by three grandchildren.
Services will be private. Lorenzen Mortuary in Reseda is handling the arrangements. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Red Cross or the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
