MADRID — Two Cuban men were found dead Monday in the landing gear well of an Iberia DC-10 jet flown that arrived in Madrid from Havana, a spokeswoman for the Spanish state airline said.
The bodies of Jose Manuel Acebedo Cardenas, 20, and Alexis Hernandez Chacon, 19, were found by a maintenance electrician.
Officials said the men had probably frozen to death but may have been crushed by the wheels. The spokeswoman said temperatures outside the plane would have been 67 degrees below zero at an altitude of 33,000 feet.
