U.S. Trade With China
The tragedy of Tian An Men Square shocked the world and displayed for all the cruelty of the communist leadership of China. Today, Congress debates the issue of MFN for China. The knee-jerk response of many is to deny MFN as punishment for bad behavior.
However, a closer look reveals the fact that the poor people of China benefit the most from trade with America. Over 3 million people have jobs due to the $7 billion in goods sold to the U.S.
The road to democracy is paved with a free market economy. If the best way to get rid of communism is by promoting a free market, it makes no sense to impose economic sanctions on China’s burgeoning free market.
Finally, what about the $500 million worth of goods produced in California and sold to China? Has Congress told you how it is going to make jobs for those workers when trade is severed?
