Inglewood’s former police chief, Joseph T. Rouzan Jr., has been named deputy city manager of Long Beach in charge of handling citizen complaints concerning police conduct.
Rouzan, 59, will replace Herbert A. Levi on Sept. 1 as executive director of the city’s Citizen Police Complaint Commission, which Long Beach voters created last year.
Rouzan, who is president of the Inglewood school board, also previously served as Inglewood’s assistant city manager, as well as city manager and police chief in Compton. He retired from the Los Angeles Police Department as a captain in 1976.
