An arson at a Port Hueneme building shared by law offices and an optometry business caused $40,000 damage early Wednesday, authorities said.
A 911 call from a gas station across the street in the 800 block of North Ventura Road alerted authorities to the fire about 2:10 a.m., Ventura County fire officials said.
The fire caused $15,000 damage to the structure and $25,000 damage to the contents, authorities said.
The building houses the Harold Dressler Law Offices and the Ralph Moses and Donald Steensma Optometry Offices.
An investigation showed that the fire started just inside the doorway and quickly spread throughout the first floor of the law offices. Ventura County fire investigators said the blaze was arson.
