Ford’s New Franchise: Harrison Ford has signed a three-picture deal with Paramount Pictures to begin a new motion picture cycle in which he will star as author Tom Clancy’s protagonist, CIA analyst Jack Ryan. The first film will be “Patriot Games,” based on Clancy’s best-selling novel about international terrorism. Principal photography will begin in November. Ford will be taking the role established by Alec Baldwin in “The Hunt for Red October.” Baldwin dropped out of “Patriot Games” to play opposite Jessica Lange on Broadway in “A Streetcar Named Desire.”
