MISSION VIEJO : City to Pick Team for Mapping Project
- Share via
The City Council will select a biological survey team to map all environmentally sensitive areas in the city.
The council on Monday pared to three a list of prospective candidates for the project, which will attempt to identify the habitats of endangered plant and wildlife species.
Environmental firms P&D; Technologies, Karlin G. Marsh Co. and Urban Vision were recommended by city staff as finalists and approved by the council.
The mapping effort is in response to the Mission Viejo Co.’s controversial practice of clearing weeds as a means of fire control.
Several times in the past two years, citizens and environmentalists have charged the development firm with destroying sensitive vegetation to keep the company’s business and housing projects on schedule.
