CERRITOS — Marco Dominguez’s interception in the final 40 seconds helped Los Alamitos defeat Villa Park, 13-7, in a nonleague football game Friday at Cerritos College.
His interception in the end zone of a 29-yard pass from Villa Park’s A.J. Strapp assured a third consecutive victory for Los Alamitos, the county’s 10th-ranked team.
“We needed a play right there and Marco made it. He made two picks (in the fourth quarter) and played one heck of a game,” said Los Alamitos Coach John Barnes.
Dominguez had also intercepted a Strapp pass at the Los Alamitos 34 with 4:42 left in the game.
Mike Haddad put Villa Park ahead, 7-0, on a 15-yard pass from Strapp with 8:22 left in the second quarter.
Five plays after the ensuing kickoff, Tim Carey completed his first of two touchdown passes, this one to George Sagen from the Villa Park 35 with 6:14 remaining in the half. His second scoring pass went to Raoul Morris from the Villa Park 34 with 8:36 left in the third quarter. Bryan Kolasa’s kick, however, was wide to the left.
