PREP FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Century’s Garcia Runs for 180 Yards, Scores Three Times

Juan Garcia rushed for 180 yards and three touchdowns in 18 carries Saturday night to lead Century to a 35-14 victory over Troy at Tustin High School.
Garcia, a senior tailback, scored twice in the fourth quarter when the Centurions (4-1) broke the game open.
Troy (0-4-1) trailed by only 20-14 after the third quarter, but Garcia increased the lead with a three-yard touchdown run with 8:39 remaining. The score was set up by a crucial 25-yard gain by Garcia on third and 11 from Troy’s 28.
Garcia set up his second fourth-quarter touchdown with a 44-yard open field run that moved the ball to the Troy 10. Three plays later, Garcia scored from 11 yards out.
In the first quarter, Garcia scored on a 14-yard run to give Century a 7-0 lead.
Century’s Paul Tanny carried 10 times for 63 yards and a third-quarter touchdown that gave the Centurions the lead for good at 20-14. Quarterback Johnny Martinez passed for 158 yards, including a 52-yard touchdown throw to Joe Loaiza late in the second quarter to tie the score at 14-14.
Troy’s James Hartford rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown, and Warrior quarterback Brent Lacher completed seven of 20 passes for 142 yards.
