Laguna Beach Player Gains Hardcourt Final

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Ron Livingston of Laguna Beach upset top-seeded Gordon Davis of Encino, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3, in a men’s 55-and-over semifinal match of the U.S. Tennis Assn. National Hardcourt Championships Saturday at the Lindborg Racquet Club.
Livingston, seeded No. 4, will face second-seeded Bob Duesler of Newport Beach in the final at 9 a.m. today. Duesler eliminated third-seeded Herman Ahlers of Dana Point, 6-4, 6-0.
Steve Wilkinson and Geoff Grant will meet in the 50-and-over final at 11 a.m. The top-seeded Wilkinson ousted fourth-seeded Thay Butchee of Nashville, Tenn, 7-5, 6-1. Grant, a Mill Valley resident who is seeded third, advanced with a 6-0, 7-5 victory over sixth-seeded John Gorsky of Ithaca, N.Y.
