Video Rental Chart : ‘Godfather III’ Muscles In on Top 5

“Godfather III” stormed into the Top Five of the Billboard magazine rental chart--at No. 5. The only surprise is that it didn’t debut higher. “The Doors”--a solid No. 2--may be shut out of the top spot by “Godfather III” or “The Silence of the Lambs,” which is being released today.

* For a documentary, this did very well, raking in more than $15 million at the box office. The heavy media campaign, with Madonna doing interviews stressing the film’s outrageousness, certainly helped. It’s No. 8.
