La Puente : Plan Commission Changes

Members of the Planning Commission will have their terms reduced from four to two years, beginning in 1992, under an ordinance adopted by the City Council on Tuesday night.
The council also revised the rules for appointing commissioners, giving all council members the right to nominate candidates. Previously, only the mayor had that right.
Councilman Edward L. Chavez said the shortened terms will provide more opportunities for new council members to nominate candidates to the five-member board.
A majority vote of the council will be required for confirmation of nominees.
The changes were opposed by Mayor Charles H. Storing and Councilman Manuel Garcia.
