Children Stump With True Grit
Recently I had the privilege of observing an Irvine elementary school election of officers.
These are 10- and 11-year-olds running for office. They each gave their election “pitch” in front of a crowded school assembly. Applause was encouraged, and boos were outlawed.
The assembly gave rapt attention as these young ones told why they were best qualified. You could tell this was an important moment for them. One boy said he had a stomachache from early morning he was so scared--but he did it.
So, take heed Washington, there are strong, capable leaders coming up the pike. Maybe this is the only hope for our country.
Cherish the children.
