Rep. Perkins to Step Down

HINDMAN, Ky. — U.S. Rep. Carl C. Perkins (D-Ky.) has announced that he will not seek reelection this year for a sixth term. His retirement will conclude a family dynasty in Congress that began when his late father, U.S. Rep. Carl D. Perkins, took office in 1949.
