RETAIL/LEISURE : Firm Hopes Industrial Chic, Deep Discounts Suit Clothes Buyers
- Share via
Ever thought of buying a suit in an industrial park?
Discounters are going to unusual lengths to lower their overhead. Some lease stores away from pricey malls or strip centers. Others limit their hours to the most lucrative selling days of the week.
3-Day Suit Broker is doing both. The company is opening a store in the Southpark Industrial Park in Fountain Valley this weekend that will be open only Friday to Sunday.
That might sound like retailing suicide to more traditional vendors. But 3-Day is betting that discounts of 60% to 80% will lure enough buyers.
An industrial park may not be the most attractive place to sell clothing, but 3-Day has already learned how to put a positive spin on its location that may catch the eye of most county residents.
The Newhope Street store is “1 1/2 miles from South Coast Plaza mall,” the company points out in its press release.
