Palmdale Plans Hearing on Sign Law Revisions

City officials in Palmdale have scheduled a hearing Monday to take public comment on proposed changes to the city’s sign ordinance, including one that would outlaw “bootleg” signs for new housing tracts often scattered along city streets.

Palmdale’s current law already outlaws the housing signs, typically about two feet square and mounted on wood stakes, said Terry Stubbings, the city’s code enforcement officer. However, the City Council told city officials about a year ago not to enforce the law pending a review of the measure, she said.

The proposed amendment also would change the requirements for signs at neighborhood shopping centers.

The hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday in the council chambers at Palmdale City Hall. Copies of the proposed changes are available from the city Planning Department.
