COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Titans Again Defeat Stanford, Take Two in Three-Game Series

Junior Bill Fitzgerald allowed five hits and a run in 7 2/3 innings as Cal State Fullerton defeated Stanford, 3-1, in a nonconference baseball game Sunday at Stanford.
Fitzgerald, a right-hander who had two strikeouts and two walks, is 1-0. Tony Fetchel allowed no hits in the final 1 1/3 innings for his first save.
Stanford had scored in the second and Cal State Fullerton (2-2) tied it with a run in the third on an RBI double by senior Frank Herman.
The Titans got two more in the sixth. Freshman D.C. Olsen singled home Jason Moler to break a 1-1 tie. The other run scored on a fielder’s choice.
Fullerton won twice in the three-game series. The Titans play Cal State Northridge at Amerige Park at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
In another nonconference baseball game:
Pepperdine 5, Chapman 2--Erik Ekdahl, a junior from Mission Viejo High School, had a sacrifice fly to break a 2-2 tie in the eight for host Pepperdine (5-0), which is ranked fourth in the nation by Baseball America.
Chapman had scored single runs in the second and sixth and took a 2-0 lead into the eighth when Pepperdine scored five runs.
Mark Wasikowski, a junior from Rancho Santiago, led off the eighth for Pepperdine by reaching base on an error by Chapman third baseman Tervor Rush.
Corey Giuliano (1-1), a junior from Saddleback College, pitched into the eighth but took the loss for Chapman (4-2).
