Hughes Wins Army Contract: Hughes Aircraft Co. in Fullerton said recently that it won a $27-million contract from the Army to build and service digital field radios that help soldiers find their way on a battlefield.
Hughes’ Ground Systems Group has won more than $230 million in contracts to build the radios, formally known as the Enhanced Position Location Reporting System. Battlefield commanders use the system to locate enemy and friendly forces on land or in the air.
