IDB Communications to Expand: IDB Communications Group Inc. of Culver City announced that it has reached agreement with TeleColumbus to acquire the Swiss company’s two American subsidiaries, World Communications of New York and Texas-based Houston International Teleport, in a two-tiered stock-for-stock transaction. IDB’s share price rose as high as $19 in over-the-counter trading during the day and closed at $16.75, up 25 cents. IDB is a $104-million-a-year vendor of satellite broadcasting, telecommunications and high-speed data transmission services. The acquisition will dramatically expand IDB’s business and add an estimated 18 to 20 cents per share in net income in 1992, the company said.
