Peace Dividend

The current controversy about what will happen to the money that was taken out of the defense budget doesn’t seem to be a problem to me. Just leave it in people’s pockets! Don’t assume that it has to be a peace dividend.
The Pentagon and the federal government do not have the right to people’s income for the rest of their lives. The public agreed with this high level of taxation and deficit spending for military necessity, World War II and the Cold War. But now the money should stay where it started--in the people’s pockets. They can spend it more wisely.
