The report of an investigation into University of Kentucky basketball was declared a public record by the Kentucky Supreme Court. The court rejected the university’s argument that most of its 4,000-page response to charges by the NCAA should remain secret.
The ruling was made in a lawsuit involving three newspapers--The Louisville Courier-Journal, the Lexington Herald-Leader and the Kentucky Post of Covington.
The university paid a Lexington law firm more than $400,000 to conduct interviews and compile the response to 18 NCAA charges.
