Schoolchildren on the Rioting
I am a sixth-grade student at Gates Street Elementary. I am now ashamed to live in Los Angeles. I can’t believe more than 50 people died. Is it true that the damage estimate is up to $717 million? If this wouldn’t have happened, we wouldn’t have to pay this amount of money.
I believe that the officers that beat up Rodney King should go to jail. I mean the videotape proves that they are guilty of what they did. The jurors weren’t even peers of Rodney King.
People burned down houses and businesses. They don’t even care about what they are doing; they just used Rodney King as an excuse. Innocent people were like prisoners in their own houses.
We are supposed to have justice in this country. This is really history. This is really like the Watts riot but worse.
