Export Licenses for Vietnam Available

The United States and Vietnam are inching closer to re-establishing trade relations that were cut in 1975, when the Communists ousted the U.S.-backed South Vietnam government.
The U.S. Department of Commerce is now accepting applications from businesses interested in exporting commercial products to Vietnam. The exports are limited to basic goods related to health, clothing, shelter, education and food production. Until May 5, the U.S. government allowed such goods to be sent to Vietnam only as donations.
The department’s Bureau of Export Administration will administer the program and issue export licenses to qualified companies.
