Cynthia Passmore of La Crescenta was recently accepted into the Peace Corps to do volunteer work in the Central African Republic.
Passmore, 23, a graduate of Crescenta Valley High School, graduated from San Diego State University in 1991 with a degree in physical education.
Her experience as a teaching assistant helped her qualify for service in the competitive selection process. Peace Corps officials say only one of five applicants serves in a foreign country.
* Carol M. Scott of Glendale is the 1992-93 president of the Junior League of Pasadena. She has been active for nine years on a variety of volunteer projects, including the senior advocacy program and Center Stage Fundraising.
