Albert J. Auer has been elected chairman of the board of directors of Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach. He fills the seat previously held by Guy K. Claire, former senior partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, who had led the board since 1986. Auer is president of Albert J. Auer & Associates Inc., a developer of office buildings, shopping centers and business parks. He has served on the hospital board since 1969 and has been a member of the George Hoag Family Foundation since 1974. The board also announced a new slate of officers. The new officers include Vice Chairman L. George Elias, retired project manager for McDonnell Douglas; Secretary Norman M. Dahl, retired investment banker from Merrill Lynch, and Treasurer Charles W. Hester, president of Hester Development Co.
