OJAI : Volunteers Sought to Tend Overgrown Public Parks
- Share via
The way Ojai landscaper Steve Beckman figures it, enough garden hobbyists live in the Ojai Valley that no public area should look neglected.
“Everybody looks for the city to clean up the parks, but cities don’t have the money anymore,” said Beckman, a self-described “artsy landscaper.”
With the blessings of the City Council, Beckman has launched the Ojai Valley Beautification Committee with the aim of sprucing up some of the town’s overgrown public gardens.
Prospective volunteers who wish to join the effort can attend a safety training program today with an Ojai park supervisor. The training session is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Ojai City Hall, 401 S. Ventura St.
For further information about the Ojai Valley Beautification Committee, call Beckman at 646-5581.
