Area Students Win National Merit Grants

The Los Angeles County Office of Education recently announced that several area high school students have won National Merit Scholarships.
They are Joseph L. Bautista, Don Bosco Technical Institute in Rosemead, who will attend USC; Rebecca J. Bennion, Los Altos High School in Hacienda Heights, Brigham Young University; Gaylin K. Bignell, Maranatha High School in Sierra Madre, Pepperdine University; Amy C. Carlson, Monrovia High School, Wheaton College in Illinois; Nor C. Chiao, Arcadia High School, Johns Hopkins University; Nathaniel A. Greely, Duarte High School, USC; Emiko R. Isa, Nogales High School in La Puente, UC Irvine; Elaine M. Nelson, Blair High School in Pasadena, University of Puget Sound, and Connie L. Tsai of Arcadia High School, UCLA.
National Merit Scholarships are awarded each year by the nonprofit National Merit Scholarship Corp.
