A search is under way for a new principal for Hermosa Valley School following the resignation of Principal Roger Preuss, effective at the end of the month.
“We’re right in the middle of searching for a replacement,” said Elaine Gourley, superintendent of the Hermosa Beach City School District. The school district and the board of trustees are screening candidates and hope to have a new principal in office in a couple of months, she said.
Preuss was principal of the elementary school for three “wonderful” years, Gourley said. “He had a wonderful rapport with the students. He enlisted their pride and respect which translated into good schoolwide discipline.”
Preuss, originally from St. Louis, said he plans to relocate to Northern California.
