The Ventura County district attorney’s office on Friday filed an assault charge against a 16-year-old boy who was allegedly involved in the stabbing of a Newbury Park teen-ager at Borchard Park.
The teen-ager, whose name is not being released because of his age, is scheduled to be arraigned Monday on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, Deputy Dist. Atty. Kevin McGee said.
Eric Severns, 16, was stabbed once on the side of his face in a fight on Wednesday, Ventura County Sheriff’s Detective Ernie Montagna said.
Severns was listed in fair condition at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks on Friday night, officials said. The motive for the stabbing was unclear, but gang involvement has been ruled out, Montagna said. Another teen-ager was arrested in connection with the incident, but McGee said he did not know whether charges would be filed against the youth.
