ROCK AND ROLL: O.C. legend Dick Dale, known as the King of Surf Guitar, tried to get word on the fate of his Twentynine Palms ranch in quake-rattled San Bernardino County while he was waiting to go on stage at Sunday’s Battle of the Surf Bands in Huntington Beach. . . . Dale finally learned from neighbors that his remote ranch house looked intact, at least from the outside. “They said it’s all in one piece,” Dale said. “I only thank God it wasn’t centered in Orange County or L.A. It would have been a holocaust. In the desert, all you have to do is step outside.”
