Party Time: About 700 frenzied Madonna fans jammed a suburban Detroit hotel Sunday to mark the Material Girl’s 34th birthday, and while the pop singer wasn’t there herself, there were enough Madonna wanna-bes on hand to make up for it. A highlight of the celebration, tabbed the first International Madonna Appreciation Convention, was a two-hour bus tour through the neighborhood where Madonna grew up. The tour included glimpses of her high school, the family homestead and the dime store where she satisfied her childhood sweet tooth.
