HOUSTON NOTEBOOK : Plenty to Chew On

One question no Republican need ask here is: Where’s the beef? It is available in Texas-size proportions at reception after reception, to say nothing of Houston’s abundant selection of Tex-Mex restaurants and steak houses. At one reception, California delegation members helped themselves to huge slabs of venison roasted on a spit. The message to vegetarians (never mind animal rights advocates) seemed to be: Let them eat steak.
