A new weekly newspaper in Ventura will begin publication Oct. 1 and will be distributed free to every household, the publisher of the Oxnard Press-Courier announced Tuesday.
The Ventura Sun, owned by Toronto-based Thomson Newspapers, will be circulated to 35,000 homes in Ventura each Thursday morning and will be sold at news racks countywide, Publisher Kirk Davis said.
More than $500,000 will be spent on launching the paper for the first three months, Davis said. Curtis Robinson, the former managing editor of the defunct Ventura Today, has been named editor and general manager of the paper.
