On the Freeway, the End Is Always Near

Roy Rivenburg’s report on the reports throughout history about The End was wonderfully well-done, although it was negligent due to one glaring absence: Civilization will end, and soon, because of the decaying moral fiber of our society as shown on that television program with that blond woman, Murphy Brown.
Prominent observers and trusted arbiters of the Moral Standard & Code of Acceptable Social Practices have pointed to her begetting of child out of wedlock as the most recent sign of The End, and Rivenburg’s failure to report same can only be ascribed to devil-vapors surrounding his Aura of Responsibility. . . .
It couldn’t have been the Antichrist, by the way. He was with me on the 30th. We thought we had Elvis cornered, but he slipped out the back. . . .
