‘Bopha!’ Deal: In a move that bolsters the ranks of African-American filmmakers at major Hollywood studios, Paramount Pictures said Wednesday it will distribute the movie “Bopha!,” which will be largely produced, directed and acted by blacks. TV personality Arsenio Hall’s production company is producing the movie in association with CineCity Pictures Inc. “Bopha!” is set in South Africa shortly after the Soweto uprisings of 1976, and is based on a South African play by Percy Mtwa. Shooting began in Harare, Zimbabwe, on Monday. Directing is actor Morgan Freeman and the film stars Danny Glover, Alfre Woodard, Maynard Eziashi, Malcolm McDowell and Marius Weyers.
