BIG WEST ROUNDUP : Daigle Leads Fresno State, 42-21

Running back Anthony Daigle, a transfer from Arizona State and former El Camino College player, ran for 196 yards and four touchdowns to lead Fresno State to a 42-21 victory over Pacific Saturday night at Stockton.
Pacific pulled even with Fresno State, 21-21, with 12:49 remaining in the third quarter, but Fresno countered with an eight-play, 78-yard drive capped by Daigle’s two-yard touchdown run.

The Associated Press reported erroneously that Fresno State’s Anthony Daigle ran for 196 yards in the Bulldogs’ 42-21 victory over Pacific Saturday night. Daigle scored four touchdowns and ran for 85 yards. Teammate Lorenzo Neal ran for 196 yards.
Fresno State dominated the Tigers, 536-312, in total yards.
Fresno State quarterback Trent Dilfer completed 10 of 18 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown; Pacific’s Troy Kopp completed 11 of 19 passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns.
New Mexico State 37, Weber State 21--Charles Puleri threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, and fullback Lawrence Truehill added a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns as the Lobos won at Las Cruces, N.M., their first victory in a season opener since 1981.
New Mexico State rallied after Weber State led, 6-2, late in the second quarter.
