BEIRUT — Gunmen kidnaped a top official of Lebanon’s largest Christian political party in Beirut on Tuesday, security officials said.
Ten gunmen driving in a car and a van abducted Boutros Khawand as he was leaving his home in the capital, they said.
Khawand, 53, is a member of the politburo of the Falangist Party, the largest of several Christian groups. In August and earlier this month, it boycotted Lebanon’s first general elections in 20 years.
