Bayani Defeated in Forum Exhibition

Nine-year-old Bernadette Bayani of Simi Valley lost to Jessica Roland of Hollywood, 6-2, 3-1, Friday in an exhibition tennis match at the Forum between two of Southern California’s top three players in the girls’ 10-and-under division.
Roland, a 10-year-old ranked third, has defeated Bayani in three of their four meetings this year, but Bayani won when the two met for the Southern California sectional championship.

Tennis--The outcome of a match at the Forum on Friday was incorrectly reported in Sunday’s editions. Bernadette Bayani, 9, of Simi Valley defeated Jessica Roland, 10, of Hollywood, 6-3, 3-0. The match was halted after one hour because of the featured John McEnroe-Andre Agassi exhibition match.
The match Friday was called after an hour under a previous agreement to allow Andre Agassi and John McEnroe to take the court.
