QUARRELING OVER FAMILY VALUES : Family Album

The conceit is simple: bring together the family photographs of famous photographers. The result: marvelously complex. The images on the following pages are taken from a new picture book, “Flesh & Blood,” that arrives just in time to inform the family values debate with dozens of intimate views of the ways we define, create, love, hate and live with our families. In the following photographs from the book, which will be published in November by Picture Project, even the happy clans flaunt their uniqueness, and every image contains at least an echo of something that is, well, familiar .
