ANGELS OF MERCY: When Angels second baseman Ken Oberkfell heard about a Chino couple killed in a car crash last week, he passed the hat among his fellow players to raise money for the couple’s three children, who were injured. In a short time, his fellow Angels contributed a total of $5,000. . . . After Sunday’s game against Minnesota, several of them drove to Pomona to visit the hospitalized children. “This wasn’t for publicity; this was from the heart,” says Angels official Larry Babcock.
