Gulls Release Seven Players

The Gulls released seven players to cut their training camp roster from 36 to 29 Thursday. Among those cut was defenseman Alan Legget, who played 55 games with the Gulls last season. Leggett had two goals and 18 assists. The others were defenseman Glen Carvey and forwards Sylvain Naud, Eric Lemarque, Tom Sasso, Brad Vigon and Tamas Dobos.

The Gulls will hold a scrimmage at the San Diego Ice Arena in Mira Mesa, free to the public, at 4:15 p.m. Saturday.

SURFING

Chuy Reyna of Oceanside and newcomer Pat Maus of Carlsbad were most impressive on Day 1 of the Body Glove Fall Classic trials at Seaside Reef in Cardiff. Area surfers Rob Machado (No. 3 on the tour) and Taylor Knox (No. 21) are also competing.
