When the Cal State Los Angeles men’s soccer team moved from NCAA Division I to Division II status this season, it became an instant favorite to win the California Collegiate Athletic Association title this season. Coming into Saturday afternoon’s game at Cal State Dominguez Hills as the nation’s sixth-ranked team, it was expected to beat the Toros.
But CSDH (4-5-1, 1-2-1 CCAA) used goals from Gerardo Yepez (Hawthorne High School) and Ken Hodge (Long Beach Wilson High School) to earn a 2-2 tie on Toro Field.
Mehran Molkara and Armando Sierra scored for CSLA (5-1-2, 1-1-1) to bring the Golden Eagles back from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits. CSDH junior goalkeeper Erick Miseroy made five saves in the second half to preserve the tie.
CSDH will take a week off before returning to action at Cal Poly Pomona next Saturday in Pomona.
